Thanks for the Memories

The School Captains reflect on year that was:

Firstly we would like to say thank you for having us as your School Captains throughout the year, we have really enjoyed the opportunity. As we draw to the end of a really big year, we have finished off with Year 9 exams, graduation, swimming carnival and end of year celebrations.

We thought we would finish off this year by sharing some of our reflections and learnings in this role.

Lessons Learned

2017 has been a rollercoaster of a year, there has been ups and downs but I wouldn’t have it any other way. It has been a big year which has really shown me the changes and expectations for the next big part of my schooling. I have had so many learning experiences and learnt so many new skills. It has truly been an honour and privilege to have been given a chance to have been one of the school captains in 2017. I have enjoyed every second of my ten years here and especially being part of the amazing production last year. I have been rewarded with so many opportunities to represent our school in sports, Year 9 Transition, City Experience, SRC Whittlesea Cluster, 10 year celebrations, camps and productions. I am grateful for having such wonderful teachers that have taught me valuable lessons and I have so many amazing memories that I will cherish forever. The tough times have made me stronger and more confident and I cannot thank the school and teachers for their support.

Life Changing Experience

This year has almost passed and it has been a life changing experience. From the time I was announced as one of the school captains for 2017 I knew this experience would change my life and I was the proudest I have ever felt. As a School Captain I knew I would learn new skills that I would use not just at our school but would shape me to be a better person in the future. Being at The Lakes has helped me build on my skills and I have created memories I will never forget. Throughout my ten years at The Lakes I have been involved in multiple events such as sporting teams, the production, City Experience and the most exciting, being a student ambassador for the development of Whittlesea Tech School. The Lakes has opened up many opportunities for me and the other captains.

Memories for a Lifetime

I have had a wonderful time at The Lakes for the last 8 years. I have learnt many life skills from my teachers and peers. From my first day at school, which funnily enough was Market Day, to being announced as school captain last year, the memories I have will last a lifetime.

Being a school captain has taught me so much. I feel that I have grown, not just as a person but in my leadership skills and its these memories and experiences I won’t forget. Over the last 8 years I have learnt so many values that I will hold with me for the rest of my life.

Most importantly,  the  Year 9 graduation,  I know we were all looking forward to with much anticipation,  was our last time together as an entire group, many tears and memories were shared (that’s just the parents and teachers ...... Maybe one or three students as well).
