Year 12 Retreat

On the 20th of November Year 12 travelled to the Warrambui Conference Centre for their three day senior Warrambui Experience. The focus of this year’s Warrambui experience, as led by the ‘Burn Bright’ team, was to challenge our school leaders to:
- Understand their influence and impact of their leadership on their peers and the school.
- Appreciate the importance and strength of community and working in a team.
- Understand servant leadership and the ability they have to transform lives through serving others.
- Explore how to establish and maintain healthy and positive relationships.
- Understand their personal values and how these underpin their lives.
- Shape healthy habits for dealing with expectations and pressure in senior school years.
- Consider how they are currently leading and be encouraged to grow their leadership capacity.
The Burn Bright program complements much of the work already in place here at Kildare, and reinforced to our students the attributes and qualities required for leadership. Staff present were impressed by the way students embraced the challenges put to them, and their reflections and participation revealed an extraordinary energy, depth of understanding and commitment to each other and to the College.
Other traditional Warrambui activities included spirituality through relationships with Tribal hakka and physical challenges, and the ‘Childhood Memories’ dance was a tremendous success.
Many thanks to Mr Nielson for his organisation of the retreat, along with special mention and thanks to Mrs Halloway, Ms McDermott, Mrs Needham, Mrs Jones, Mr Huntly, Mr Ward and Mr Gaffney for giving so much of themselves and helping to make this experience so valuable for all.
