OSHClub

Welcome back to 2020 with OSHClub!

On behalf of the team at OSHClub, we’d like to extend a warm welcome to all families in the St James community as we celebrate the beginning of a new school year! We can’t wait to build strong relationships with all families and children and learn lots of new things through fun and play!

What we’ve been up to at OSHC!

Over the past two weeks we have been learning all about each other and our new friends in OSHClub. The children have really enjoyed helping to create our new ‘all about us’ bee themed display as well engaging in lots of team building experiences. To develop our theme of sustainability this term, the children used recyclable materials to build a shelter to protect our much loved ‘Eddie the Teddy’ from the sun! It was fantastic to see the children negotiating and working collaboratively in their teams to create some amazing designs. Have a look at all their hard work below!

The OSHClub Clubs!

We are so excited to share with you our newest 2020 initiative at OSHClub! Last week we began clubs in our after school care program. Each club is aimed to provide children with experiences that suit their interest, developmental needs and are structured around our termly theme. This term our theme is ‘sustainability’. Each week we will use this space to shine a light on the fun things we’ve been up to in one of our clubs!

Creative Club

This week in Creative Club we have been thinking about all the places, people, animals and things in our environment as well as making some fantastic suggestions about how we can care for our world. Lenni G suggested that we need to respect animals, insects and plants. Ruby U suggested that we should reduce our energy consumption to care for the earth. Later, the children made some fantastic artistic representations of our environment, using an oil resistance technique to add an interesting effect to their work. Check out their awesome creations below!

Meet the team: Laura

Laura is the coordinator for the program at St James CPS OSHClub. Laura is currently studying her Bachelor of Education (Primary) at Curtin University, with around two years until this is completed. On the weekends, Laura is a children’s party entertainer! In her down time, Laura likes to spend time with her family, friends and her three dogs. Laura is passionate about working with children and is highly enthusiastic about the OSHClub program at St James! She can’t wait to work with many families in the community this year.

Pupil free day: 6th March, 2020

On the 6th of March, OSHClub will be running an extended care program from 7.00am-6.00pm for the Pupil Free Day. The staff at the program have planned lots of engaging activities for your children, including an excursion to the local community gardens and ANZAC gardens at Star of the Sea. If you’d like to book in for this session, you can do so through your Iparent portal.

Please note that we require a minimum of 15 bookings for the day to go ahead. Please book in your children before the 28th of February in order to secure your place.

We can’t wait to see you there!

Do you have any recycled materials we could use at OSHClub?

As part of our initiative to embed more sustainable practices within our program, we would love it if you could bring any recyclable materials that the children could repurpose into some awesome craft inventions! Things like toilet rolls, jars, boxes or even newspaper would be fantastic!

OSHClub Class Dojo

If you have a child who attends OSHClub, please take a moment to sign up to our Class Dojo. Through the application parents can view how their child is behaving and also peep a view at the fun things we get up to!

Enrolments

If you’d like to book in for all the fun at OSHClub, please head to www.oshclub.com.au to register your child. We hope to see you soon!
