Principal Report

A word from Ian

Welcome to Term 4

It is so wonderful to have children back at school and for school to be back to a COVID normal. Thank you for your ongoing support.

Covid 19 update

It is such a huge achievement for Victoria to achieve what no other countries in the world have been able to do. Seeing 0 numbers on Monday was so heart-warming. Congratulations.

But we must continue to be vigilant and ensure we do not step back to increasing cases of COVID. We will continue to wear masks at school and follow social distancing. We will still have the current policy in place until we are notified of changes.

From Friday we will cease to take children temperature as this is no longer a requirement due to such low numbers.

School Photographs

We are going ahead with school photos on November 18th, 2020

Dress - Up Day

We would love to have a dress up day for children as they have missed lots of fun this year.

On November 20th we will have a ‘come dressed in your favourite dress-up’. November 14th is Diwali so this dress up day will celebrate this festival and as Diwali celebrates ‘good over evil’, a perfect celebration in a COVID 2020.

Staffing 2021

We are working hard to prepare classes and staffing for 2021. We are excited by the employment of new staff who really want to be part of our wonderful school and learning community.

Congratulations to Dylan who has a promotion position at a new school next year. Thanks, Dylan, for leading Prep this year. We will miss you.

Melbourne Cup

A reminder that November 3rd (next Tuesday) is Melbourne Cup Day and there is no school on this day. This year will be a different Melbourne Cup to normal.

School Concert

We are still having our school concert this year. The difference will be that the children’s performances will be filmed and launched live on Dec 9th at 7:00pm. You will be able to watch the concert live from your loungeroom with your children.

The concert is ‘The Greatest Show on Earth’ – A theme around ‘Circus’.

Prep 2021 Transition

With the restriction in place it is not possible to run a normal transition program, but we are happy to offer a transition program for 10 children at a time. The children will get to spend a session at school with our Leading Teachers. This transition will commence from 30th November until 7th December.

You will receive an invite soon with further details. We really are looking forward to meeting and getting to know all our children.

Next Year 2021

Next year we will continue with ‘Interview Days to enable teachers, parents and students to meet before school starts.

Are you intending to change schools next year?

It's sad to see any of our amazing students leave us but we understand that family circumstances change.  If you are leaving us at the end of this year but have not yet informed us, can you please do so ASAP by emailing dohertys.creek.p9.co@education.vic.gov.au .  We will need to know the school that your child is moving to as this will assist us in supporting you with the transition to your child's new school.

2020 Parent Opinion Survey

WE WANT OUR PARENTS TO TELL US WHAT THEY THINK!

Our school is conducting a survey to find out what parents thoughts are about our new school. The Parent Opinion Survey is an annual survey offered by the Department of Education and Training that is conducted amongst a sample of randomly selected parents. It is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of parents’ perceptions of school climate, student behaviour and student engagement. Our school will use the survey results to help inform and direct future school planning and improvement strategies. This year we are inviting all families (1 survey per family) to participate. Email invites will with a unique PIN have been sent out to all families. The survey period closes on Friday the 13th of November.

All responses to the survey are anonymous.

The survey is conducted online, only takes 20 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time within the fieldwork period on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones. The online survey will be available in a range of languages other than English. These include: Arabic, Vietnamese, Mandarin, Chin (hakha), Hindi, Japanese, Somali, Turkish, Punjabi and Greek. The survey results will be reported back to the school at a later date.

Please speak to your child’s teacher if you would like more information.
