From the Principal

Dear Parents, Guardians, Students, Staff and Friends of St Norbert College,

This newsletter comes to you shortly after the “World Premiere” of our 2020 College Presentation Night, streamed live around the globe on Wednesday night. The positive response and acknowledgements have flowed since and we’re genuinely delighted with what has been achieved. It goes without saying, and I’m reassured by those who have sent messages of thanks and congratulations, that an enormous amount of hard work and effort went into such an innovative presentation of student and College achievement, talent and performance.

My heartfelt thanks to all staff and students, but it would be remiss not to mention those students who presented in the footage and to Miss Hilton, Mr Dowling and Mrs Quartermain, who were in the vanguard of the work. We were delighted to work closely with Brad Habib (Class of 1995) and his company, Sandbox Productions, who combined with us to provide the professional assistance behind the production. (Read more about the production process further on in today's Newsletter)

It has been an incredible week of events, as we also hosted our Year 12 Graduation last week, an opportunity to gather, reflect and celebrate the journey of our students over the past six years. It is not until we sit back and reflect on the importance of the special relationships between students, staff, families and our community that we come to appreciate how fortunate and blessed we are to share in this journey together. Thank you to the student members of the Year 12 Graduation Committee, along with Mr D’Souza and Ms Rainford, who lead preparations for this special event.

It was a lovely gesture to acknowledge the contributions of all staff on Wednesday night, awarding All Staff members the Br Patrick Doolan Medal for contributions to our College this year, a lovely gesture from the Norbertine Canons to express their gratitude for the tireless work of our staff.

It is timely that today is World Teachers’ Day where Australia celebrates and thanks the teaching profession. Our teachers have ensured a quality education has continued across this year, despite major challenges, reinforcing the significant role played in the lives of our students, their families and communities.

In conclusion, whilst the start to this term has been a hectic time, the special events of this past week are a beautiful reminder of our amazing community – of one mind and soul – Koinonia.

                                                                                                                               God Bless,

Mr S Harvey (Principal)
