From the Principal

At our Presentation Mass last week, we acknowledged a great act of generosity of the Presentation Sisters; they have had a property called Maryknoll in Kingston for many decades. It is a beautiful seaside acreage and a place that up until recently offered retreat experiences and a home for two of the sisters.

In their wisdom, the Presentation Sisters spent time discerning how that land could continue to serve God, in Nano Nagle's footsteps. They donated that land to an agency to build social and affordable housing, and worked with them to sell some real estate to fund the project.

The Presentation Sisters are still teaching us to honour God through caring for others and to be generous. This deep value of social justice continues to be part of St Mary's College.

Presentation Day marks the time when Mary was presented to the temple by her parents at the age of three. We sing the song, 'Mary said "Yes!"'. Mary, in her life, said yes to God; yes for what God had planned for her. To be able to say yes to God's call in our life, we need to make sure we do so in an atmosphere where we have time and space to listen.

I hope you can make time and space to hear the Divine in your life.

Together with CatholicCare Tasmania, the Presentation Sisters, pictured above, are creating a legacy for supporting future generations of women and families in need.
