Mr Irwin's Message

Mr Irwin's Message

Hello families and welcome to this week’s newsletter.

Students have settled well into the return to school which has been pleasing to see. The first few days were set aside to re-establish routines of school and allow students time to connect with peers after a long absence. The busy routine of school will now set in as we prepare all students for 2021, be it in a higher year level or for their secondary schooling.

Parent Opinion Survey

The parent opinion survey, which is an annual opportunity for parents to provide feedback to the school is due to be released. Receiving feedback from our parents is something I, and our staff particularly value as we strive to improve. Having as many parents as possible complete this survey gives us the most accurate data possible to reflect on what we are doing well and what areas we can adjust and make improvements on. Students in years 4-6 will be completing the same exercise at school with the Attitudes to School Survey.

These surveys were the catalyst last year for some changes including the implementation of discoveries, which shows how we do respond and value the feedback we receive. You will receive instructions for completing this survey via email in the coming days.

iPad BYOD Program

For parents of children beginning grade three next year we have included advice regarding participating in the bring your own iPad program in this newsletter. Please take the time to read this information and contact Mr Smith should you have any clarification.

Parking – Sutherland St

A reminder to families that across the road on Sutherland St is a No Standing Area. We’ve seen some near misses after the holidays and if parking continues on this side of the road we’ll ask our local police officers to come and enforce this.

If you want a simple way to avoid the parking rush we have staff supervising the front of the school until 3:30. Arrange to collect your students after 3:20 and you’ll find by then most of the parks at the front of the school become free very quickly. This can be particularly helpful if you have a trailer or horse float. We need your cooperation in this matter to avoid any serious accidents or injuries.

iPad Bring Your Own Device Information for Parents - Grade 2

Our Bring Your Own Device Program will continue next year to include all students in Years 3 to 6. For parents with students in year two this year, please read the attached information document which explains terms and conditions, the purpose of the program as well as specification and application requirements.

We are excited to offer this opportunity again to all students that will be in Year 3-6 in 2021. We understand this could be a costly outlay for some families and are hoping to give you as much notice as we can. It is an optional program but we have seen its success over the past 4 years in Year 5/6 classes, with over 90% of students participating. We hope that by extending the program to commence in Year 3, the iPad device purchased (whether that be new or second hand) lasts the distance over those 4 years of schooling and that you see the benefit, both financial and academic, in having your child/ren a part of this program.
