ATAR Exams

The term is really racing by and we are at the end of Week 4 already.  The Year 12 ATAR students have commenced exams and we wish them all the very best. Currently the pool table room is set up for the exam schedule as a quiet room for the exams. We thank all residential students for being considerate of the “minor” inconvenience for a few days as their fellow students complete their ATAR exams.

Room Cleanliness

After meeting with the Cleaning staff earlier this week, a couple of issues that impact on their ability to clean were raised with me.

The first being some students leave so much “stuff” on their benchtop that the cleaners can’t complete their task and clean the desktop.

The other being clothes and shoes dumped on the floor. This also directly impacts their ability to clean the room to their very high standards.

We supply laundry tubs and boot boxes for these specific needs. I ask that students please use these for their dirty laundry and boots. Please be considerate of the cleaners and their ability to complete the job to the best of their ability.

I have told the cleaners to walk away if the room is a mess and to let me know. Speaking with many of the cleaning staff they are not comfortable leaving it untidy and don’t get job satisfaction from doing it that way.

Christmas Gift Boxes

A few years ago Lorene Nepe initiated our Christmas boxes for needy children in the area.  This is a wonderful community initiative that has always been very well supported.  Our students assist in packaging the gifts into boxes, wrapping and decorating them beautifully. Those students then have the opportunity to hand the boxes over to charitable organisations who pass them on to families.  This is an amazing opportunity and many students and staff have been brought to tears when the agencies talk about what these simple little packages are going to mean to the children and families who receive them.

Jodee Sayer took over the mantle of organising this initiative when Lorene retired.  Jodee has reported at this point in time we are very low on donations and she has asked could I request some support from families for this great initiative. We have always had fantastic support and I am sure that most people have just been extremely busy and overlooked it to this point.

If you are able to assist we would love to receive new items by Friday 13 November so that the boxes can be compiled before students leave for the year.  Thank you.
