Curds & Why

In Term 3 our Year 10 Science students participated in the Great Ocean Road – Careers Made Here – Curds & Why National programme.  This program brought real-life science into the classroom requiring students to examine the cheese-making process and the chemistry of great tasting cheese. Students designed a ‘dairy billboard’ to promote the Australian Dairy Industry and showcase the connection between chemistry, curds and cheese.

We are pleased to announce that our school has been awarded with THIRD PLACE in the Great Ocean Road – Curds & Why competition for 2020.

The winning entry for our school was submitted by Team Hectic Heifs – Dakoda Robinson, Rohin Hill, Henry Pratley and Casey Cole.

The competition received 155 submissions from schools across Australia, so this is an outstanding achievement.

The College will receive a $100 prize!  This is generally spent on a reward for the Year 10 Science students!! In addition, winning students will receive a special certificate and a little prize pack.  A Certificates of Participation will be given out for all the students who have been involved.

Shade Structure

The class area court yard has been completed and is functioning well. We are currently working through the Student Council to work out what seating and finishing off they believe will best suit the area. It is a great addition to the class area and we look forward to show casing this to the wider community at next year’s Open Day.
