St John's

         Community Association

A couple of 'Thank yous' from the Community Association, and one request….......

Departing Friends

This year sees several of our Community Association helpers leave, with their last child moving on to secondary school.  We would normally take the time to thank them at our annual Carols on the Green, however like a lot of things this year, this won't be possible.

We would like to sincerely thank Maria Wallis for her time and energy over the last seven years.  Maria has had several roles on the CA, her most recent being coordinating the chocolate fundraisers.  However she was always ready with a helping hand to carry boxes, do the dishes and decorate!  Thank you Maria for your generosity and willingness to help, and for always doing it with a smile.

We would also like to thank Rhyannon Elliott. Many of you will know Rhyannon, as she has been a part of the St. John’s community for well over a decade.  You can imagine how many mango boxes have been carried, streamers put up and dishes washed in that time!!  She is a wealth of knowledge and has been an integral part of our community.  Thank you Rhyannon for your seemingly limitless time and amazing ability to bring calm to any situation.  You will be very missed.

Thank you

Finally, a huge thanks to everyone who gave so selflessly of their time to provide support to our community in the form of outreach.

We know this year has been tough on many families and it is comforting to know that there are so many people in our community who are willing to help out.

We have also been extremely conscious of not asking for money during the year.  As a result there have been very few fundraisers and therefore there will not be a donation presented to the school this year.

AGM Request

Everyone is more than welcome to come along to the CA AGM on Tuesday 1st December at 7pm.  Please RSVP to Courtney by Friday 27th November. Depending on numbers this may be held at school instead of via video link.

We would normally be celebrating a year of fundraising, outreach and social events.  Instead, we will be planning a year of bringing our community together again.

Come along and learn about roles that are available for the 2021-year.  In particular we need:

  • A Chairperson – chairs the monthly meeting

Lots of support is available for all roles, and all roles are only a year in length – no lock in contracts!

If there is a particular role you are interested in or you would like to put up your hand to be our Chairperson for 2021, please contact Courtney or Monica O’Shannassy.

New Friends

The CA has been aware that this year has not seen the usual social and interactive events take place that would normally afford our new families a welcome smile.  We are also aware that because we haven’t held any of our ‘usual’ events, new families to our community might not have a sense of what Think Pink is, let alone what a major social fundraiser even is!  For this reason we have position descriptions available for anyone who would like a bit more information or is thinking about getting involved.  If you would like any further information about the CA in general – what we do and how we do it and why we do it, or you are thinking of becoming more involved, please contact:

Courtney Laffin (Gracie, Isla and Declan 5/6AB) at courtneylaffin@yahoo.com.au or 0402 319 063.

Everyone is more than welcome!

Prices: Our standard trees which are 5-7 ft (suits all standard height ceilings) are $60 each. (This is one of the cheapest prices in the area  - most groups sell these trees for $75+.

Stands: Our small stands are $40 each and our medium stands are $60

Their stands are Cinco express stands - They're known to be the best on the market and all come with a 10 year warranty, they are easy to use, you can set up the tree in two minutes, they also have a built in watering device. The small and medium stands will both easily hold our standard trees - some people choose the medium over the small incase they choose a bigger tree in future, otherwise the small is fine.
