Cancellation of Student Free day on Monday 2nd November

In past years, our community has been very supportive and understanding of the workload for teachers when writing reports. As you may be aware, we had planned a student free day on Monday November 02 (day before Cup Day).

This student free day has now been cancelled and the children will have a normal school day onsite.

The staff and School Council have done this as we realise that children have been away from face to face learning for such an extended time, and we don’t want them to miss more learning time.

Please change this on your calendar. As all our children live by the values of honesty and trust, I’m sure that the kids won’t try and trick you into thinking they don’t have to come to school.

Thank you.

Reminder: Parent Payments due tomorrow

Please note that tomorrow Friday 16th October is the due date for Parent Payments.

CSEF usage is normally restricted to camps, sports and excursions activities.  As there was limited opportunity to undertake these activities this year, the 2020 CSEF payment can now be used to pay for the 2021 voluntary school charges, books and stationery.

If you would like to use your child’s CSEF money to pay for their bookpack and/or ESLI payment, please contact the Administration team to organise.

If you have already paid for your book pack and Essential School Learning Items for 2021, your CSEF will rollover into 2021 to use for camps, sports and excursions activities.

School Nurse Program

Melissa Sullivan, Primary School Nurse from the School Nursing Program, will be conducting Prep assessments for PPPS in

Term 4.  Melissa has been working with our school for many years and she is professional and knowledgeable when supporting families with concerns.

The Primary School Nurse service helps to identify, address and support children and families with concerns that may impact on children’s health and learning and is provided free to all Prep students during their first year of school. Melissa’s advice is always practical, with helpful strategies and recourses for behavior, eating, sleeping, toileting, physical and emotional health, all of which can impact on a child’s learning.

All families of Prep students will receive the School Entrant Health Questionnaire on MONDAY 12th October. It will provide Melissa with your child’s health history and identify any concerns you may have relating to your child’s health.

Please note that children cannot receive a health assessment by the School Nurse without consent.

ALL PREP families are required to return this form with or without consent to the school by selecting one of the options on Page 3 – ‘Your Consent’.

Prompt return of all questionnaires would be appreciated by Thursday 15th October. Apologies for the short turn around, however returning to onsite learning has impacted on this for all schools in Victoria. It is important that all questionnaires are returned.

Please contact your class teacher or myself if you require any further information.

Thank You

Friendly reminder - sun protection times have already started

Although it may still be cold, Victoria’s UV levels are on the rise so please check the daily local sun protection times to see when you need to be SunSmart.  The sun protection times are a forecast from the Bureau of Meteorology for the time of day UV levels are forecast to reach 3 or higher in your location. At these levels, sun protection (hat, clothing, sunscreen, shade and, if practical, sunglasses) is recommended for all skin types.

Sun protection times are available via:

SunSmart recognises what a difficult time this has been for everyone. SunSmart has loads of free, fun and interactive resources to use and download for all year levels from early childhood through to primary and secondary school. Please check out our resources at sunsmart.com (click on this text)

IMPORTANT information regarding closure of a school crossing

Council regularly reviews the crossing service and we wish to advise as part of these reviews the crossing located at the following site:

Plenty Road, Mill Park (on corner of Mayfield Drive

has been identified as no longer meeting the VicRoads warrants to require the crossing to be covered with a school crossing supervisor.

Closure of this crossing will take effect Monday 5th October, 2020.

As one of the schools possibly affected by this closure, can you please provide an update to your parents to ensure they can make other

arrangements to use other crossings nearby. However, this site is controlled by intersection lights to assist pedestrians to cross the road.

A request will be forwarded shortly to our works Department to remove the red/white posts and the line marking at this location during

the school holiday period.

If you have any further concerns, please feel free contact me.
