Duke of Edinburgh

Acts of Kindness

During remote learning the Duke of Edinburgh students completed at least two acts of kindness while in lockdown. The students took on the task and came up with many ideas while staying COVID safe. Some of these acts of kindness consisted of baking for the community, walking dogs, helping neighbours with outside chores, and giving back to the community.

Jasmin Moroney participated by cooking a slice for the community and loved ones. Jasmin cooked a lovely vanilla slice for her Nan and Pop. Sadly Jasmin’s Nan had just been discharged from hospital and by cooking the slice not only was Jasmin showing her love but also doing a service towards the elderly within our community.

Two students, Jude Ryan and Elijah Wallace, cut wood for a member of the Colbinabbin community, Dean and Rob. After the boys spent all day cutting wood they loaded it into the trailer and delivered it to Dean's property. Without the efforts of the boys the wood would’ve taken days to be cut and moved off of Robs’ property.

Another student not only made a cherry ripe slice but wrote a letter to the IGA staff during lockdown. In her letter it expresses not only her appreciation but the communities thanks to the essential workers. Without them being on the front line, our community would go without food. A special thanks to our local IGA staff.

Charlie Langdon went into the Rochester Bakery and bought the next four coffees for random people in the community. She not only made the manager cry but brought customers to tears as well.

Angus Giffin cooked a beautiful meal for his family, rissoles and gravy with a side of vegetables. His meal looked good, and according to his family it was quite immaculate.

Each and every student participated in the task at hand and engaged in acts of kindness around our community.
