A Message from the Principal

Term 3 has certainly not turned out as expected, yet it has still been a productive and creative one. Thank-you to everyone for adapting to remote learning with all of its challenges. You have again been flexible and supportive as you have assisted your child's learning. It may not be the curriculum delivery that we hoped for but to see what the students have achieved at home is fantastic. On our Term 3 Teaching and Learning page you will see photos of the student's amazing art work, STEM rockets, home cooking, 3D maths shapes, South American brochures and so much more. I love hearing their stories of adventures in the parks, picnics in the backyard, cubby houses under the tables and numerous cooking feasts.

As difficult as it is at the moment I know that your children will look back and remember this time with many fond memories and tell stories about how school was very different for them for a few years.

New garage doors were being installed in front of the undercroft today which will add extra security to the school during the holidays and on weekends.

Naplan

Our NAPLAN results are a very positive reminder that our students are flourishing and the great learning they have achieved over the last 12 months. We are delighted with the results across all subject areas and our Year 5 Reading and Numeracy is off the charts. Writing and Spelling have had a particular focus over the past couple of years and it is pleasing to see we are now above the State average in these areas also. Almost 75% of our students are in the top 50% of the state in Grammar and Punctuation. The growth in our year 5 students from Year 3 is also very high.

Parish Hall

Work on the Parish Hall will commence later this week and over the school holidays. We are hoping that it will be completed by the start of Term 4. If it continues into Term 4 part of the piazza area will be fenced off but students will still have access to the majority of the new playground.

Fun Fridays

Fun Fridays have been a welcome addition to the regular week during remote learning. It is great to see so many staff and students dressed up and embracing the themes. This Friday will be extra special with Footy Day. Hopefully you can join in the Footy Activities and maybe even organise a pie and sauce for lunch.

Friday 17 September -  Footy Day - Wear your favourite football clothes or colours!

Joke of the Week

Did you know that a slice of apple pie costs $2.50 in Jamaica and $3.00 in the Bahamas. They are the pie-rates of the Carribean.

Enjoy the Spring sunshine and have a great final week. Stay safe and have a wonderful break. I look forward to seeing you all back at school in Term 4!
