The Talk Around Traf

As you are driving along School Road in Trafalgar, you will notice our nice, new large signs at the front of the school and kindergarten!  These new signs were put up during a recent lockdown and were a welcome surprise when the students arrived back onsite at school.

School enrolments for new students at Trafalgar Primary School in Foundation Grade 6 for this year and 2022 are now being accepted.  Stop by the school general office to pick up an enrolment pack or to book a school tour!  (left to right - School Captains Eli, Matilda, Jake, Baxter)

INDONESIAN CULTURAL DAY @ TPS 27TH AUGUST 2021

On Friday 27th August we will be holding our annual Indonesian Cultural Day at Trafalgar Primary School.

Traditionally Indonesian Independence Day is celebrated on 17th August each year in commemoration of Indonesia’s independence from the Netherlands

Throughout the day on Friday, students and teachers will participate in Indonesian activities in their classrooms. Once again Aaron Hall and Nita from Baguskan will perform a Wayang Kulit (shadow puppet) show for the junior students and run workshops in both Gamelan (traditional Indonesian music) and Dance with grades 3-6.

Students are encouraged to wear traditional Indonesian costumes on the day (Batik sarong, skirt, shirt etc) or wear red and white, the colours of the Indonesian flag.

WINTER SPORTS

On Friday August 13th, our Grade 6 students FINALLY were able to participate in our annual Winter Sports competition.  This event had been planned, rescheduled, planned and rescheduled MANY times over the past 2 terms due to COVID lockdowns and poor weather, so the students were very happy when the big day finally arrived!

The Grade 6 students (and a few Grade 5’s!) were able to choose to participate in either AFL football, Soccer, Netball or T-Ball.  The weather was kind to us and it was a fun day out competing against other schools from West Gippsland region.

The teams all did a terrific job supported by Mr Grimshaw, Mrs Hardy, Mrs Cleversley, Bu Staff, Mrs Franke, Mrs Ferguson, Miss Smithers and Mr Dastey.  The students all showed terrific sportsmanship, cheering on their team mates and putting in their best effort.  Well done to all participants!

We Want to hear what parents and carers think.

Our school is conducting a survey to find out what parents/caregivers/guardians think of our school. The Parent/Caregiver/Guardian Opinion Survey is an annual survey offered by the Department of Education and Training (previously known as the Parent Opinion Survey).

It is designed to assist schools in gaining an understanding of families’ perceptions of school climate, student behaviour, student engagement and experiences of remote and flexible learning. Our school will use the survey results to help inform and direct future school planning and improvement strategies. All parents will be invited to participate in this year’s survey. All responses to the survey are anonymous. This year, the Parent/Caregiver/Guardian Opinion Survey will close 22nd August.

The survey will be conducted online, only takes 20 minutes to complete, and can be accessed at any convenient time within the fieldwork period on desktop computers, laptops, tablets or smartphones. The online survey will be available on Compass in a range of languages other than English. These include: Arabic, Vietnamese, Mandarin, Chin (Hakha), Hindi, Japanese, Somali, Turkish, Punjabi and Greek.
