Remote Learning

How quickly our lives are changing at the moment.  With the swift decision to move into Remote Learning last week I am so incredibly proud of the work that our staff has done to get the Remote Learning Program up and running for our school community.

A reminder that our teachers are here for you, if you need some ideas on how to engage your child in their learning, would like to know their goals or need some additional support.  Send them an email and they will get back to you.

Tips to Support Your Child During Remote Learning

  • Set up their workspace

Help your child set up a quiet space at a desk or table where they can work away from distractions.

  • Keep to routines and timelines

Start the day with a good breakfast followed by looking at what’s on for the day on the remote learning website.  Then get into the learning.

  • For students in Prep to Year 2, this will include:
    • literacy activities that take a total of about 45-60 minutes
    • numeracy activities of about 30-45 minutes
    • additional learning areas, play-based learning and physical activity of about 30-45 minutes.
  • For students in Years 3 to 6 this will include:
  • Literacy: 45-60 minutes
  • Numeracy: 30-45 minutes
  • Physical activities: 30 minutes
  • Additional curriculum areas: 90 minutes
  • Eating and drinking

Prepare snacks and meals like you normally would for a school day.  Encourage your child to drink water throughout the day.

  • Take breaks

Schedule in breaks for you and your child to do some stretches and get moving.

  • Build in fun

Encourage your child to take some time to be creative.  Draw, play with Lego, build a fort. Choose something to do that will bring a smile to your child’s face.

As always, if you or your child is struggling reach out for support to your child's teacher, Carol Wyatt or myself.  We will all get through this together!
