Remote Learning Extended

Yesterday the Victorian Government announced that the current restrictions for Victoria will be extended for another seven days, until 11.59pm on Thursday 19 August.

All students in metropolitan Melbourne, including our school, will continue to learn from home, except for students in the following categories:

Children where both parents and/or carers are considered authorised workers who cannot work from home, work for an essential provider and where no other supervision arrangements can be made:

  • Where there are two parents/carers, both must be authorised workers, working outside the home in order for their children to be eligible for on-site provision.
  • For single parents/carers, the authorised worker must be working outside the home in order for their children to be eligible for on-site provision.

Children experiencing vulnerability, including:

  • in out-of-home care
  • deemed vulnerable by a government agency, funded family or family violence service, and assessed as requiring education and care outside the family home
  • identified by a school or early childhood service as vulnerable, (including via referral from a government agency, or funded family or family violence service, homeless or youth justice service or mental health or other health service).  If you are concerned about your child’s wellbeing and believe your child may require an identification as ‘vulnerable’ please contact Carol Wyatt on 0448 325 021 or via email Carol.Wyatt@education.vic.gov.au
  • Where a parent/carer indicates that a student with a disability is vulnerable because they cannot learn from home, and/or informs the school the student is vulnerable due to family stress, the school must provide on-site supervision for that student. This may apply to students enrolled in specialist schools and students with a disability enrolled in mainstream schools.

Thank you, for supporting your child’s learning during this time. Please contact me on Christian.Holdsworth@education.vic.gov.au with any questions.

Middle School Production

As I shared last week, ‘The Show Will Go On’;  however, after a challenging period including two false starts, the school has made the difficult decision to change the format of the 2021 Middle School Production.

The decision has been made to perform our production at school as a videoed show rather than the live performance.  This was deemed more favourable to re-booking the theatre and experiencing ongoing uncertainty around spectator attendance and COVID restrictions around group gatherings.

It was also felt that this was a good compromise. Our students will still have their performance, at our earliest convenient date and under conditions we can control.  It also allows us to have our event and move with clean air towards the next exciting Middle School experience – Years 3 & 4 Camps!

We’re sure this news will be devastating to some students and encourage families to communicate with teachers if their child needs additional pastoral care dealing with this disappointment.

Thank you to Ros, David, Belinda, and the team for the tireless work you have put into the production. It may look a little different but I have no doubt it will still result in an amazing performance!

Thank You Ervine Family

We all need a little pick-me-up every now and then and boy, did we get one yesterday! Thank you to the Ervine family for dropping off a delicious platter for our staff who are supervising the onsite learners!

NB: It was enjoyed in a COVID-Safe way.
