Teaching and Learning

NAPLAN Online in 2022

As children progress through their school years, it is very important that checks are made along the way to see how well they are learning the essential skills of reading, writing and mathematics – skills that will set them upon the path to success as adults.

NAPLAN is a point-in-time assessment that allows parents to see how their child is progressing in literacy and numeracy against the national standard and compared with their peers throughout Australia. At the classroom level, NAPLAN provides additional information to support teachers’ professional judgement about student progress.

Federal, state and territory education ministers agreed to gradually transition NAPLAN online by 2022. NAPLAN Online is a tailored test that adapts to student responses, providing better assessment and more precise results.

NAPLAN SCHOOL READINESS TEST (SRT)

On the 7th October 2021, Rangeview Primary School will be taking part in school readiness testing (SRT) in Level 3 and Level 5. The purpose of SRT is to ensure a school is ready to undertake NAPLAN Online in future years. SRT aims to test the technical readiness of the school devices, give students an opportunity to provide feedback about the online platform and allow our staff to familiarise themselves with the procedure for managing the the system. SRT is not about assessing students and it is not a NAPLAN test. Further information will be provided to families closer to the date.

PARKING AROUND THE SCHOOL - KISS & GO SIGNS

Following feedback from our parents in May this year and confusion regarding the drop off zones at the school entrances, we applied to the Whitehorse City Council for ‘Kiss & Go’ signs in both Churinga Avenue and Scott Street.

These signs are a reminder that the designated area has a 2 minute limit to drop off or pick up students and the driver must stay with the car, it cannot be used as a car park.

We anticipate the signs will be put in place by the council in the next few weeks and we will provide more information when this occurs.

As we move into Spring this week and are spending so much time together as families, I look forward to enjoying the sunshine and taking in the beauty of the new flowers and blossoms.
