Remote Learning Continues

As announced on Sunday, remote learning continues. Not the news we wanted to hear of course.  At this stage we are unsure on how long but we will keep you informed of any changes to the return to school date as we are informed.

Please note grade 5 and 6 teachers and students are trialling modifications to the remote learning as previously set. These parents and students are invited to participate in a survey to assess student engagement in the learning.

School Review Remotely- Validation Day

The school review panel met on Thursday for the first of the 4 planned days- Validation Day. Sherol Singh, our school council president, the two Challenge Partners Julie Crawford and Lisa Rankin, the SEIL Richard Lambert and the reviewer Leslie Tulloch joined the SIT’s (School Improvement Team) discussion on our reflection of the last 4 years at Rangeview. What a busy and successful period it was.

The staff nominated 5 major highlights for the period:

  • Teaching Practice: Introduction and refinement of the writing workshop and the instructional model
  • Innovation: Remote learning model with Seesaw and WebEx
  • Student Agency: Introduction of the student portfolios and student led conferences and student leadership opportunities
  • Student Wellbeing: RRRR- Rights, Resilience and Respectful Relationships and being a lead school
  • Focus on wellbeing and engagement of our students and the community

The three goals set 4 years ago were analysed against the evidence and whether we had met the targets. These goals covered student learning, wellbeing and engagement.

The next two days are the Field Days and the reviewer, our SEIL and our Challenge partners will be meeting with parent, staff and student forums.

The final day Panel Day is planned for Monday 13th September to reflect on the field days and formulate the 2022 -2025 Strategic Plan goals. Unfortunately, it is doubtful that we will be able to have the panel onsite for the review.

2021 Parent Opinion Survey - open until 3rd September

If you have received a link to complete a parent opinion survey for the school, we would appreciate if you could fill it in. I recognise that this is not the most important thing to be done in light of the current circumstance, but please understand that we follow up on the responses and this is reported to our school council. This is part of the data that we analyse and set targets on. It does make a difference.

Postponed Events

  • Grade 4 Camp to a sleepover in term 4
  • Grade 5/6 production to be in week 6 term 4

Class Ambassadors Morning Tea with Principal Class

All our class ambassadors are invited to a morning tea with the principal class starting next week. I am hoping that this can become a regular informal event during the remote learning and continue when we return to onsite learning. Invitations will be sent by email.

Mask Wearing

Mask wearing for primary age students is recommended. This is a family choice and masks will not be provided by the school. Staff must wear masks at school unless directly teaching  a student or eating and drinking.
