Bundoora District Swimming Event

Last Wednesday 19th February 13 students represented our school in the district swimming carnival.  It was great to see our students’ determination and will power whilst swimming 50 metres in the various strokes. Students swam against 4 other schools in their age group.

Plenty Parklands were placed in fifth position with a total of 75 points. We are very proud of each one of our swimmers who ensured that they entered their events on time.

All students displayed terrific teamwork by supporting each other enthusiastically throughout the day. All attending students demonstrated our school values throughout the day, even though they were very nervous about their events!

If you are in year 3, 4 or 5 this year, be sure to speak with Mrs Gatt and ask how you can enter the swimming team for next year. All year 3, 4 or 5 students who can swim 50 metres in either freestyle, backstroke, breaststroke or butterfly are eligible to enter at the end of this year for 2021.

I would like to thank Ms Stephanie Hughes and Ms Thavv Khy for attending and ensuring that each child was ready for their race. A special thank you also goes to Melissa Ryder who assisted with the marshalling of the students. It was also great to hear that many parents and family members supported their child and other children from our school, encouraging everyone to swim at their best!

Well done and thank you again.  Julie Gatt

Interschool Sport Wrap up

On Friday the 14th of February Plenty Parklands year 5 and 6 students competed in the first round of our interschool sport season. Our Bushrangers were playing at home against St Francis where our Hot Shots boy and girl teams both had impressive wins of 12-0 for the boys, and 10-2 for the girls. In volleyball both boys and girls were victorious winning 2-0. The netball teams competed hard all day but unfortunately the girls lost 2-37 and the boys 10-11 in a close match.

Our redbacks teams were playing away at Northside Christian College this week. The girls netball lost 3-4 in a close match and the boys had a 7-2 victory. In the hot shots, both teams won 12-0 and demonstrated great sportsmanship. There were mixed results in the volleyball with our girls losing 0-2 and boys winning 2-0.

Round 2 of interschool sport was unfortunately cancelled due to weather, we hope to continue the season this Friday. All students have been demonstrating great sportsmanship and have shown all of our school values throughout the competition.
