School Council Report

First School Council Meeting of 2022

In our first gathering after the summer holidays we recapped on the year that was 2021 and looked forward to planning for another great year ahead. The Covid cases at WPS have been less than anticipated which has also helped our school settle in quickly. We discussed the delivery of the programs within the school being dependent on the contribution parents make to parent payments and encourage all our parents to use Compass to pay their child/rens fees.  We welcomed our new Business Manager, Elisha McPhedran to our school community and acknowledge the hard work she has put in whilst being new to the role.

Nieta’s Principal’s Report unpacked the school’s COVID policy and strategies for managing outbreaks.  The air purifiers seems to be helping in the classroom spaces.

Our students Attitudes to School Survey and Staff Opinion survey results were excellent in many areas and showed a broad satisfaction with classroom learning, behaviour and management of the school. This, along with strong NAPLAN results, has resulted in WPS moving to being an ‘Influence’ school in the region, meaning we are a school to look up to. Well done!

The Buildings and Grounds Committee reported that the working bee was a huge success, with several staff, parents and students showing up to fix, paint, weed and mulch. The school looks great...but there is always more to be done. We would love to see everyone at the next one as we still need to finish off the second sandpit and tidy up around the 5/6 building.

FOWPS reported that local business, Evimero Finance Consultants, has generously donated $500 towards the air conditioner for the Music room. The next school fundraiser is the Warrandyte Festival, which will feature Vietnamese banhmi, homemade baked goods and fairy floss. If you would like to contribute look for posts in Compass and the FOWPS Facebook page.
