Wellbeing & Culture

“ Australia is one of the most successful multicultural countries and our cultural diversity is at the heart of who we are.”  Yaseen Hakimi

Harmony Day is a celebration of our cultural diversity where we have a day to reflect and display cultural respect for everyone who calls Australia home.  This year's theme for Harmony week is “Living in Harmony.”

Why wear orange?  Orange traditionally signifies social communications and meaningful conversations.  By wearing orange we are not only showing support for cultural diversity and an inclusive Australia, but it also relates to freedom of ideas and encouragement of shared respect.

Students participated in a number of activities across the school, from crown making, mindful colouring in, bracelet making to developing having meaningful discussions in class.

To complete our week of Harmony celebrations we have a performance from Majeda Beatty tomorrow.  She will run immersive workshops with students including dancing, music, flag discussions, artefacts and clothing traditional to Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander cultures.
