We have all the world in our backyard: the rich cultural heritage of Whitehorse weaves a proud and colourful social fabric!

We’re pleased to present you an equally colourful Harmony Day Concert, with an incredible line-up of performers that will make your heart sing and your body move.

Come and enjoy powerful First Nations singer and musician Mitch Tambo on stage, supported by high-energy, African Super Mande Percussion Group, evocative and soulful Iranian musician Gelareh Pour, and the mind-blowing Lion Dancers from Hung Gar Yau Shu.

‘Everyone Belongs’ at our free Harmony Day Concert and we want to see you there, celebrating our community and enjoying live music, workshops and activities, food trucks and dance performance.

Make a seed bomb, paint your part in the migratory-eel mural, watch (and taste!) some cooking demonstrations and witness the beautiful dancers from the Victoria Hua Xin Chinese Women's Association. You can also take a tour of Strathdon House itself.

We can’t wait to see you in our shared backyard.

Dear Doncaster Secondary College students,

My name is Sarah Pamflett, and I am conducting some research with Monash University on student’s experiences transitioning back to school after the Covid-19 Lockdowns. We are looking to recruit students who are in year 9 or above for this study.

Participants will be asked to attend a once-off online focus group, beginning the week of the 27th March. This focus group will be approximately 60-90minutes long and will occur outside of school hours. All participants will be reimbursed with a $20 Amazon voucher. The study has approval of Monash University Human Research Ethics Committee (Project ID: 35529).

Expressions of interest can contact me via email: spam0002@student.monash.edu

Hello Students/Parents of Doncaster SC,

GKR Karate wanted to get a message out to everyone involved in your school, we have a student that goes to your school that is a gold medalist competitor as well as a junior sensei with us, and we wanted to share what he, as well as many others have been able to get out of karate.

Have you been looking for an activity for your kids that promotes healthy living and stress relief? Or have you been looking for some self defence for your kids as they get older and you want them to know how to defend themselves from bullies or on the street? GKR Karate can help with all of that. We have been helping kids, teens and adults improve their quality of life for nearly 40 years through healthy habits and self defence.

Aside from the confidence gained when learning self-defence, karate training can have a positive impact on children’s fitness, concentration and general behaviour. For adults, it’s also a great way to relieve stress, learn something new, meet new people, and stay healthy.

If you want to find out more information about our fitness with purpose program, please contact us on 0452 527 756, or feel free to head online and find out more.

Saver Plus: helping take the stress out of back to school time

The Saver Plus community program has helped over 55,000 Australians take the stress out of back to school time. It’s free for eligible people to join.

At Saver Plus, we pair you with a savings coach while you budget and save over the next 10 months. You attend online workshops to learn tips, tricks and information to grow your budgeting and savings skills. Once you reach your agreed savings goal, ANZ matches your savings dollar-for-dollar, up to $500. You can use that money towards education costs such as uniforms, text books, laptops or extra-curricular activities such as sport or music.

You could be eligible to join Saver Plus if you:

  • have a Centrelink Health Care Card or Pensioner Concession Card
  • are at least 18 years old
  • have some regular income from work (you or your partner) including casual, part-time, full‑time or seasonal (we also accept child support and carer’s payment as income)
  • have a child at school or attend vocational education yourself.

If you’re eligible, start now and we’ll help take the stress out of next year’s back to school.
