60th Anniversary Celebrations -

This year Lalor Secondary College turns 60 years old. The school has gone through many changes over that time and continues to evolve even today as the new buildings are being constructed throughout the year. The school will hold some celebrations towards the end of the year that will be communicated to the wider community in the coming months. If you know someone that may wish to be involved in the planning of the organised events, please ask them to contact the general office on 9463 7300 and leave their details for me to contact them for further discussion.

Year 7 Camp

I had the pleasure of attending the Year 7 camp on Friday the 3rd of March. It was a great day with all of the students attending telling me of their highlights over the 3 days. I was able to get involved in the high ropes and flying fox groups and witness many students receiving multiple school value awards cards. The feedback from the camp staff and Lalor Secondary College staff was extremely positive and the school could not be prouder of the students who attended this camp. A big thank you to all of the staff who attended the camp and to Junior School team for the facilitating the 3-day experience.

Athletics Day

The annual Lalor Secondary College Athletics day was held last week on Friday the 10th of March. It’s a great day as one of only a few whole school events involving every year level to be held throughout the year. The year 12 students again showed up in their costumes and all students competed for house points. I thank all of the students and staff who made this day such a great event.

Discovery Evening

Tonight, Tuesday the 14th of March the school opens its doors for its annual Discovery Evening that showcases the school to the general community, and in particular those parents who are looking at secondary schools for their students on 2024. We look forward to welcoming our prospective parents and students with the evening commencing at 5pm. I will be speaking at 6pm in the Science Centre for any parents wishing to come and ask questions about our college.

School Policy

At Lalor Secondary College we do everything possible to ensure the safety of our students. The school has a detailed-On Site Supervision policy that is available for all members of our community to view via our website - http://www.lalorsc.vic.edu.au/

Part of this policy outlines the supervision provided to students before and after school and the obligations of parents around these guidelines. School staff do commence duty until 8.30am and therefore if your child is on site prior to this time they are unsupervised. The following paragraph is from our On-Site Supervision policy.

Parents/carers are discouraged from sending their children to school before the designated supervision time in the morning which is 8.30am at Lalor Secondary College. Parents/carers are encouraged to pick up their child by the end of the designated end of day supervision period.

At the end of the day students must leave the school grounds by 3.30pm unless they are involved in a school activity that has been arranged by a Lalor Secondary College staff member. Again, the college does not have the capacity to supervise students after this time and we ask that students make their way to a location that each parent is aware of and provides adequate supervision for their age.

End of Term

We can’t believe that we are in Week 8 of this term already with the end of term in site. The last of this term will be Thursday the 6th of April. I ask that all families make themselves familiar with this date.

If anybody has any questions about the information above, please contact me

via 9463 7300.

Best regards,
