From the Principal

Staffing Update
I wish to advise that my role as your Acting Principal has been extended into Term 2. I am throughouly enjoying my work at CEPS, which is largely attributed to our wonderful students, staff and families.
I am also pleased to announce that we have recently completed some new staffing appointments in both teaching and learning, and education support.
Louise Slann
Louise has accepted the position of Learning Tutor within the Department of Education's Tutor Learning Initiative (TLI). Louise will be providing Numeracy intervention and extension for our students who most require it. She brings with her a wealth of experience in a wide range of global and local education systems. We are excited to have our staff and students benefit from her strong Numeracy pedagogy.
Nahal Atashkadeh
Nahal joins us as a graduate teacher to support the teachers and students within our Year 3/4 and 5 classes. She will be able to support small group work as well as conduct whole class lessons. The acquistion of Nahal will support the Year 3-5 teachers in providing their students with increased individialised learning support.
Simon Cicak
Simon is joining us in Education Support, working as an integration aide in Foundation. He brings with him a wide range of expertise and experience in supporting students with diverse learning and social/emotional challenges, across many educational settings.
Year 1 Support
We are also implementing learning support in Year 1 to support their higher class sizes. This will be sourced through an external agency until we can source a permanent candidate. Like in Years 3-5, this additional support will allow our Year 1 students to access more individialised learning support.
Further Recruitment
We are also working hard to source additonal integration aide support, particuarly in Foundation. We are hopefully close to announcing some further staffing appointments in the near future.
NAPLAN 2023
NAPLAN testing will commence next week on Wednesday 15 March and concluding on Monday 27 March . The testing dates for our students can be viewed below. Our Year 3 and 5 teachers have done an outstanding job in best preparing our students for these assessments. They have ensured that the students feel comfortable and familiar with the online platform. We wish all our Year 3 and 5 students the very best and encourage all of you to give it your best effort.
Chat Enjoy Play Stay (CEPS)
A reminder that on Friday 24 March we will be holding our Chat Enjoy Play Stay (CEPS) community event on our school oval from 3.30-5.00pm. This is an opportunity for our families to come together and develop social connection. Our Parents Committee will be selling food and drink items (more info to come). Team Kids will be running games and activities for the students in attendance. We look forward to seeing everyone there. In accordance with the Department of Education's child safe standards, please note that this will be an alcohol-free event.
Labour Day 2023
A reminder again that next Monday 13 April is the Labour Day public holiday and a pupil free day. Team Kids will not be offering a program on this day.
Have a great long weekend,
Robert Ridgway
