Secondary 11/12

Team Leader's Message

Term 1

As part of the Victorian Pathways Certificate, all students in Secondary Years 11 and 12 take part in a variety of work programs. To ensure that our students experience a broad range of workplaces Year 11, classes complete a different program each term. This allows our students the opportunity to test out and discover several different employment opportunities demonstrating how the same skills sets are transferable across different industries and utilising skills they already have.

This year our students are engaging with Bundoora farm,  Essendon Community contract, Horticulture program, Local Community contract, Banyule Nillumbik Tech School program and Bunnings, where we run a BBQ. In Year 12, our students complete food preparation to supply the school Café.  They also ensure that the Lower Primary students get included in our Café program by running a pop up Café at the Lower Primary campus on a Thursday just before lunch. Our other 2 Year 12 classes engage with external providers completing School Based Traineeships and on Thursdays they complete paid work tasks for their Employers. One class goes to Brunswick to assemble furniture for their Certificate II in Supply Chain Operations, whilst our final class of students work in the Loyola Pavilion preparing, labelling and packaging food for the less fortunate in our community, meeting the needs of their Certificate II in Food Processing.   And this is just our Thursday programs!!  The rest of the week is just as busy, but that’s for another newsletter………….
