Cross Country
Last Tuesday, students from Year 2 - 6 participated in Cross Country. The students in the 8/9/10-year-old age group ran 2KMs (5 laps around the council oval) and the 11/12/13-year-olds ran 3KMs which was 7 laps. I was blown away by the participation of everyone who tried their hardest and ran the distance.
The following students will be going to Hanging Rock on Thursday, April 27th.

Crazy Hair Day
What a terrific display of support it was for Josh last Friday. The children (and Koopa) all outdid themselves as they went to extreme lengths to make their hair as crazy as possible. The day was capped off by Josh having his hair shaved at the whole school assembly.
Last Day of Term 1
This a reminder that the last day of Term 1 is Wednesday 5th of April. The school council have approved Thursday 6th of April to be used as a student-free day for teachers to plan for Term 2.
School Council
Our school council positions were decided last week at our AGM. We have 7 members on our school council this year. Additionally, we welcomed Chelsea and Krystal to the team for 2023.
President: Sarah Crotty
Treasurer: Chelsea Evans
Secretary: Anna Rapetti
The school will meet at least twice a term to look at policies, approve events and help with the direction of the school.
Instrumental Music Lessons
Music lessons are back at Bolinda in 2023, hosted by Jacob Petrossian. Make sure you read the page about the lessons if you are interested.
Chess Club
With the help of Mrs Bloomfield, Riley has started up a lunchtime chess club. The first week saw lots of students signing up to be part of it. It was such a great sight to see Year 6 students playing against Year 1 students. I think the younger students were giving the older kids a bit of a challenge.
Junior School Council
This week saw our Junior School Council for 2023 begin to take shape. All interested students met in the library where I went over the roles and expectations of JSC for the year. Students then went away and began to write a letter to me explaining why they would be suitable for the role. I am looking forward to working with the students so that they have an opportunity to have a voice in improving their own experience at Bolinda Primary School.
Junior Classroom
The juniors were being super scientists again in STEM this week where they were experimenting with friction. They blew bubbles on the table first and then rubbed a balloon on their head and held it close to the bubble. Then they observed what happened. If you have students in the junior years, make sure you get a detailed explanation from them.
Final Term 1 Newsletter
This is the final newsletter of Term 1 as I have a pre-arranged week of long service leave starting March 31 to April 6. This term has been one of only highlights for me and as I've settled into Bolinda Primary School, I have already seen a strong-knit community filled with pride and enthusiasm for wanting to make their child's primary schooling years, the best possible. Thank you for welcoming me into the community and I cannot wait to get back in Term 2.
