Talk Money Financial Education Program

Talk Money with Ecstra Foundation will be visiting Surf Coast Secondary College in week 10 of this term.

Talk Money is a free financial education program that teaches young Australians money lessons for life and aims to help students be confident when talking about money and to make informed financial decisions.

Delivered by talented facilitators, they will be offering interactive workshops on “Spending and Saving Money” for our year 8 cohort and “Making Money Work” for our year 10 cohort.

The program is designed for students in Years 5-10 and has been developed in collaboration with education experts and a financial education advisory group.

We’re looking forward to their visit and, if you’d like to know more, you can check out their website at www.talkmoney.org.au.

Tech Support

As the school moves into this new year we have our students engaging in new subjects and a number of new parents added to the our learning platforms, Compass and Canvas. I’ll acknowledge here that new Year 7 parents will be added toward the end of this term as we support our students to engage with these platforms with confidence. In this this post I’ve put together a short & simple video to assist with the navigation of Canvas from a parents/observer's perspective, it covers the following.

  • Dashboard
  • Types of Notifications
  • Course Pages
  • Marks

You will also find links to support information for a range of topics below as well.

There will be a follow up post for new year 7 families to support them to access and engage with Canvas.
