Principal's Report

I Can

What a wonderful way to end the term!  I am incredibly proud of the 49 students, 6 staff and many parents who completed the 50km walk.  A special shout out to our volunteers who supported our walkers all the way from St Kilda to Frankston.   Altogether, Elisabeth Murdoch College, Langwarrin Primary School, Woodlands Primary School, and Langwarrin Park Primary School have raised just over $212,000 for the Royal Children’s Hospital Appeal.  How could you not be beaming with pride as a Langwarrin resident when our 4 schools pull together to achieve such an amazing result?

The Oval

Fencing is up and the oval has been sprayed (outside of school hours) to kill off the onion weed and other grasses not wanted.  We look forward to it taking shape over the next few months.   In addition to this, we have ordered a larger rainwater tank (70,000L) to ensure it’s more sustainable to keep the grass watered over summer rather than using litres and litres of mains water.

Tree removal

Every 12 months our OHS team must ensure a tree audit is completed to ensure all trees on the premises remain safe and free of disease etc.  Unfortunately, the time has come that our beautiful tree at the front will need to be removed for safety reasons.  This tree sits at the front of the school behind our “old” sign and has been the backdrop to many of your first day photos!  In its place will be a pine that is a distant descendant of the Lone Pine of Gallipoli - Pinus brutia. This will hold special significance, as it will sit in the front of the ANZAC garden at the front of the school.

Floors Cape Centre

We have replaced the carpet in the CAPE Centre foyer.  This makes this high traffic area much nicer and cleaner (especially for before and after school care).  The main floor in the stadium will be coated and polished over the holidays making our CAPE Centre look like new again!

Easter Break

I wish all families a safe and happy Easter.  I hope to see everyone back raring to go for Term 2!
