Y8 Girls' Volleyball

The team did CHS proud with a fantastic attitude when we went out for volleyball this term. We only won won game so won't progress in the competition but we had a fantastic day!

Senior Boys' Volleyball

The Senior Boys' Volleyball consisted of all Year 11s this year. They held many of the trainings themselves and have been and continue to be super motivated and continue to train!

Elthan won the competition on the day but we came very close to beating them in our first set against them. Next year when these boys are in Year 12 and have some continued practice we will be making State for sure! Go boys!

Staff vs Students Strength & Fitness Competition

On Friday the 24th Of March the inaugural Staff vs Students Strength and Fitness competition was held. Staff and students volunteered to compete in a range of exercises including sit ups, planks and squats.

The push up challenge required participants to hold a push up position and perform a push up every time  the word ‘Roxanne’ was sung during the song Roxanne by The Police. Several students were able to outlast the length of the song, including Michael C who went head to head with new HPE recruit Jeff Bilbilov, after the songs completion.

The squat challenge was closely fought out between another member of the HPE team Samara Harris, as well as Holly D, Max S (both of Year 8) and Year 12 powerhouse Michael C.

The plank contest saw huge participation numbers, but it was Ilya R of Year 7 against new CHS Music teacher Kieran Wallace as the last two remaining. Both were able to hold a plank past 7 minutes, but it was Kieran who ultimately outlasted all comers.

Thanks again to all that participated and supported. We look forward to the next competition in Term 2.

A reminder that the weights room is open every lunchtime for Years 10-12 students.

Cricket

Year 7 Boys

Congratulation to the Year 7 boys cricket team on their win.

With the sun shining and only one out of the two teams turning up to play, the boys put on an outstanding performance against Ilim college. Throughout the game Coburg High showed great sportsmanship and integrity while we played against the developing opposition, which was highlighted when our wicket keeper took the time to help the batsman from the opposing team adjust and tighten his pads correctly.

While the boys were disappointed that the second team failed to turn up for the event we can hold our heads high knowing we were the best on the day and look forward to continuing our campaign in Term 3.
