Tips for getting ready for the new school year

We are half way through the term already and students and staff are still working hard to showcase their learning and teaching.  It is also a great time to start the conversation about the new school year!  (A bit scary and exciting, I know!) For some students it can be extremely beneficial to consider how your child reacts to change.  You know your children best and listed below are some thoughts/ideas that might be useful in preparing everyone for the new school year:

  • Environment - is your child moving classrooms next year?
  • Sensory/Wellbeing - are there any comforts or supports your child requires?
  • People - who will be your child's teacher/s next year?
  • Routines - will there be changes to getting to school (walk, drive, bus)?
  • Lunchbox prep - take time to discuss healthy options for recess and lunch (including crunch n sip)

As in previous newsletters, communication with your child's class teacher is always a great start to preparing for any changes.  Please take the opportunity to reach out before the end of the school year - even if you think your child/ren handle change pretty well. Setting up for success benefits everyone in the team!

ATSI Round Up for 2022!

This year we have had a busy year.  I have travelled to the Wii Gaay camps with Ayden.  The whole School celebrated NAIDOC.  Krystle Lamb from Opportunity Hub came into our School to teach the Indigenous students culture. We are looking forward to further involvement with the Opportunity Hub in 2023!
