From the Deputy Principal

Megan Nertney

There is always so much happening here at Living Waters!

Swimming has started this week and is going well. Children have taken to the swimming lessons like ducks to water. We are very happy to see our children progress with their swimming skills. Learning to swim is so important in Australia where we spend a big part of our recreational time by the water.  Don’t forget we continue our swimming lessons next week. Please remember to pack swimmers, goggles, towel and flip flops each day.

We had 28 children graduate from the Children’s University Program last night. We had 25 children receiving the National Bronze Award for 30 hours of learning. We had two children, Elise and Emma Schoonover receive the National Silver award for 65 hours of learning. We had Kholo Moyo receive the National Gold Award for 100 hours of learning. An amazing achievement by all our Children’s University participants. We would like to thank Mariann Reu from Charles Darwin University for running the program this year and Miss Sharreena for all her work in helping our children. We look forward to more children joining next year. If your child is interested watch out for application forms in the coming weeks.

Our focus value for the next few weeks is service: show respect to the person who is speaking.  Respect can be a big concept to grasp.  We often throw the word around when talking about having respect or showing respect. At the heart of respect is caring. Being respectful means that you act in a way that shows care for how your actions may impact others. So, when someone is speaking it is important to show care for what they have to say. It is just like the Golden Rule in the Bible, in Matthew 7:12, which tells us to treat others the way we want to be treated.

Have a great week.

Miss Megan Nertney
