Principals Report

Music Concert

Last night I was privileged enough to attend a wonderful evening of musical performances by the many students who are involved in our instrumental program. Leo, Paul, Rosie and Ksennia have continued to do an amazing job tutoring many of our students on a variety of instruments. Across the school we have many students who learn an instrument either through the instrumental program or privately, highlighting the appreciation of music in our school community. The comperes for the night were our starring music captains Lizzie and Mia, who did an outstanding job, both extremely capable performers themselves.

It was such a professional presentation for the many parents, grandparents, and siblings in the enthusiastic audience, a great night enjoyed by all.

Athletics Fame

Recently, Zoe in year 6 represented Victoria in The School Sport Australia Track & Field Championships in Queensland. It was a tough competition, but Zoe persevered showing great resilience and achieved amazing results: 4th place in the 100 sprint, she won the bronze medal in the 100 metre relay, silver in the 200 metre race and silver in the discus, she struck gold in the 800 metre race and the long jump.

In addition to this Zoe achieved two School Sports Australia national records in the 800 and 200 metre races and performed four PB’s in the 100, 200 and 800 metre races and the long jump. Wow! What a remarkable achievement, congratulations Zoe we are all so proud of you.

Election Day BBQ and Cake Stall

The Election Day BBQ and Cake Stall was a huge success with $2800 raised on the day. The fabulous response from parents supplying an extensive range of delicious goodies to be sold on the day was overwhelming but we also had the fabulous band of parents who came and wrapped and priced all the items on Friday to thank as well. The parents who came and worked on the stall cooking, preparing, and taking the money all did a fabulous job too. The money raised will be used to purchase furniture for our new building. Sincere thanks to you all for your support because without it an event like this would not have been possible.

Student Reports

Just a reminder that families will receive student reports on Friday 16th December via Compass, if your child is leaving SSPS at the end of the year (including Year 6’s) please ensure you download your child’s report before your Compass access ceases.

Icy Pole Fundraiser

Well done to all our students for raising $360 to donate to Mr Riley's running challenge for November.  Our students enjoyed their icy pole at lunchtime today.

Colour Explosion

Finally, we are on the countdown to our ‘Colour Explosion’ next Friday 9th December starting at 5.30 pm. We would love to see every student taking part in this super evening. Students and their families can all be part of this end of the school year celebration by walking, running or skipping around the course getting splashed with colour and having lots of fun along the way. To make things easier on a Friday night we will also have a delicious array of food available to purchase; BBQ sausages (beef and vegetarian), hamburgers, dim sims, samosas, fried rice, noodles and coffee and hot chocolates from the coffee van.

If you will just be joining us and not completing the ‘colour explosion’ there is no charge but for all the other colour run participants the cost will be $25 for a family of 4 or for an individual $10 (the cost includes a pair of sunglasses).  Please note if you have more than 4 family members that want to participate in the colour explosion, please contact the Office. Payment for the event can be made via Compass (Course Confirmations and Payments) from tomorrow.

Look forward to seeing you all next Friday at 5.30 pm.

Have a great fortnight!

Helen
