Summer Sport – Term 1

Baseball, Basketball, Cricket and Swimming Training has already resumed as of Tuesday 1 February 2022. NDJCA Cricket and RHBL Baseball fixtures will continue this week. Please note that there have been changes to the start date of the ISA Summer Season. For Basketball, there will be no ISA fixtures this weekend; fixtures are scheduled to resume on Saturday 12 February 2022. At this point in time, ISA Cricket fixtures for this weekend (Saturday 5 February 2022) are still to be confirmed. I ask that you demonstrate patience as we work towards confirming Cricket fixtures for this weekend. Please ensure that you check Team App regularly for any updates.

Team App

As mentioned at the end of last year, you will now be able to view the Summer Season Draws for Term 1 via Team App or the College website under the ‘Sporting’ page. (Once clicking the link, you can flick between the various sports via the tabs down the bottom).

Please note, times and venues are subject to change right up to hours before the scheduled fixtures take place. This is for a variety of reasons, not least of all the weather and COVID-19 updates. It is also important to note that TBA or TBC is not to be interpreted as being a Bye.

NSW All Schools Athletics

At the end of the 2021 school year, three boys competed at the NSW All School Athletics Championships. All three young men performed admirably setting new College records in their respective events:

  • Alexander Del Popolo came first in the Opens 700g Javelin recording a new College record with a throw of 61.60m.
  • Bailey Leighton came third in the 15 Years 3000m setting a new College record with a time of 9:13.87.
  • Jonathan Meaker broke two 30-year-old records in both the 16 Years 800m and 1500m with times of 2:00.15 and 4:06.68.

To add to these impressive achievements, Dylan Park in Year 11 competed at the 2022 SMU Gravical Competition in Singapore. Dylan performed incredibly, making the finals of the competition and in doing so, has retained his spot in the Australian Development Team for 2022.

Uniform and attendance

All boys should be well aware of where their team is playing each week and be correctly attired for their match. Boys attending fixtures in support are also reminded to wear their supporter’s shirt and College shorts/tracksuit. If boys wish to wear a hat for sun protection, only the Black College Cap or White Greg Chappell Style Hat is to be worn.

Any request for leave from training or games should be directed to Mr Calavassy or me in writing in advance.

St Patrick’s Junior Rugby Club

The St Pats Junior Rugby Club will commence pre-season skills training every Sunday morning at Hudson Park from 8:30 AM to 9:30 AM.

These sessions will prove to be of great value in developing the boys’ skills in a wide range of areas. Importantly, these sessions are OPEN TO ALL irrespective of whether you have played, will play or just want to see what it is like. All age groups welcomed.

Sunday sessions are all about developing skills and having fun.  There is no obligation to play for the Junior Club.
