Principal's Report
Shade Sail Grant
Thanks to the work of the Camelot Rise School Council in particular Keean Braybon and Bronwyn Miller (School Council members) who led the successful grant application for a shade sail to be placed over the Fellowship Garden. This will provide additional shade to the children as they play in this area.
Thanks to the over 100 community members that completed the online survey regarding shade sails at our school. The results of this survey were included in our grant application so this feedback from our school community helped with our successful proposal.
We are hoping this new shade sail will be installed early in 2022.
This will be a welcome addition to our school facilities.
Curriculum Days 2022
At last month’s School Council meeting the Curriculum Days for 2022 were approved. These dates are:
- Friday, 28th January
- Tuesday, 15th March
- Wednesday, 27th April (Yes, we are aware that this is the second day back of Term Two, however, this was the only date that the professional learning facilitator was available)
- Friday 26th August
Sports Uniform for 2022
At a recent School Council meeting it was proposed to introduce an ‘Optional Sports Uniform for Year 4, 5 & 6 students’ in 2022. This motion was subsequently approved by School Council.
In 2022 the Year 4, 5 & 6 students will have the opportunity to purchase and wear a sports uniform. This sports uniform is an optional item.
Historically our students have worn their ‘normal school uniform’ on Sports Days, however, now students can wear their own sports uniform when representing the school and participating in Physical Education classes.
These items are currently available in the PSW shop.
These are optional additions to the school uniform.
The price for these tops are $50.95.
The 'Sports Top' can be worn by Year 4, 5 & 6 students on the following days:
- Physical Education classes
- Sporting events
- Interschool Sports
- House Sport events
Through this process of implementing a sports uniform we have also updated our design and style of school shorts. These shorts are part of the Sports Uniform but they can also be worn everyday as part of the normal school uniform for all year levels.
The price for these shorts are $ 31.50. A 'skort' is also available for $28.95.
We are very excited at the prospect of these sports uniforms. Our students will look fantastic and further develop a sense of pride in the school.
The students in the senior classes were involved in the voting process to determine the style and design of our new ‘2022 Sports Uniform’.
School Production 2022
We are thrilled to announce that we have a booking at the Alexander Theatre at Monash University for our 2022 School Production.
Our production will take place om Tuesday, 30th August and Wednesday, 31st August. More information about the production will be shared at the start of 2022.
Please put these dates into your calendar.
School Council – Thank You
Our final School Council meeting for 2021 was held in November. I would like to express my sincere thanks to our School Council members for their commitment to our school. The time and effort dedicated to this role often goes unrecognised and whilst rewarding, can also be challenging.
At Camelot Rise Primary School, we are fortunate to have a group of people led superbly by our School Council President, Mrs Carrie Foster.
Each of our councillors have performed a very important role to support our school purpose and in doing so has made an extremely valuable contribution to the educational outcomes of each of our students. The broad scope of work by School Council this year has included:
- communicating the broad direction and vision of the school within our community
- successfully applying for Shade Sail grants
- increasing the ‘Socials’ of our school via Facebook and Instagram
- approving the annual budget and monitoring expenditure
- acquiring feedback from the school community to inform decision making
- developing, reviewing and updating school policies
- overseeing the maintenance of the school’s grounds and facilities
- reporting annually to the school community and to the DET
- creating interest in our school in the wider community
- enhancing communication within our school community
- introducing a ‘Sports Uniform’ for Year 4 – 6 students in 2022
- working through policies and ensuring we are strictly adhering to its principles
