Boarding House News

Sadly this is the last letter for the Boarding year as our students busily prepare for their return home.  The festive season is a time of thanks and forgiveness for me. It is the most precious time to spend with friends, carers and family and I wish all of our boarders, the boarding staff and all the St Philip's staff who assisted with "the right amount of crazy" in boarding a safe and happy return in 2022.

It would be remiss of me not to wish Margaret "Stevo" Stevenson all the best in her retirement on behalf of the St Philip's College Boarding contingent . Stevo has been a valued and well-loved head of Girl's Boarding for over 20 years and she provided us with the information for the title of our College history book "The Right Amount of Crazy". The good news is that she is staying in the Alice so we can still see her around the town.

Marea Moulton is also leaving the Boys' Boarding House after several years of being a residential supervisor. The boys all have enormous love and respect for Miss Marea and will miss her comments about clothes and rooms and how everything should be neat and clean.

Last Sunday was Carols in the Chapel and many people from the St Philip's College community came to sing and enjoy the evening. The event ended with Delisha and Aggie presenting College Chaplain, Sarah Pollitt with some candles for the start of Chapel Services in 2022. It was a wonderful night made even more special by our "Polly" suppling a supper of hand-made donuts. That was definetly a highlight.

Finally I have had many Zoom meetings with the new Director of Boarding in 2022 Dr Rob McArthur . Rob will be arriving from Melbourne with his family, mid-January to begin his familiarisation process with St Philip's College Boarding. I wish him all the best for the future, and I am confident that the boarders will make him and his family very welcome.

I have enjoyed my time as the Acting Director of Boarding and will continue in my role as Head of Students in 2022.

Yours in Boarding,

Ms Tammy Hawkins
