Acting Principal’s Report

2022 College Captains

The Principal team had the pleasure of meeting with our 2022 College Captains Hannah Benhassine, Monique Selcuk and Jade Nebbs for lunch last week. They spoke passionately about their interests, their goals for the next 12 months and beyond, and where they saw the role of College Captain fitting into our community.

Their drive to help all students reconnect post COVID19 and to be advocates for all students was evident, and we are highly excited to see them Lead and Achieve in 2022.

We are privileged at Melbourne Girls' to work with such amazing students - the road ahead is brightly lit by these fantastic leaders, so watch this space!

Week of Looking out update

As you might remember late last term we did a week of looking outwards, where we looked for ways our amazing MGC community can show our gratitude and celebrate the community organisations that do so much good around us. We have a quick update below from two of these posts which featured the work of some of our very own students.

The fabulous Ella Reeman of year 9 is participated in Starlight Foundations Tour de Kids cycling challenge by planning to ride 600km over 30 days to raise money for sick kids.

With the support of the MGC community, Ella ended up riding a massive 1183 km (approximately from MGC to Port Macquarie in NSW) and has managed to raise $1200. We are so proud of your efforts Ella!

Two of our amazing year 11 students Maddy and Hannah have signed up for the Beyond Blue half marathon, raising $1800 already. It's not too late to support the brilliant work of Beyond Blue here:  https://melbmara2021.grassrootz.com/beyondblue/maddy-and-Hannah

Appointment of College Principal

As you will have seen from our recent announcement, Tamy Stubley has been appointed as MGC College Principal. Tamy is a highly experienced educator who comes to us from Williamstown High School, and was recently Acting Principal of Surf Coast Secondary College. She will be coming in over the next few weeks to start meeting staff and students, and we look forward to welcoming her in person now restrictions have eased.

Have a great week!

Andrew
