Congratulations to Year 7 student Jack Sobey who has made the Victoria Country Under 15 basketball team to play in the “Kumon Country-Metro Challenge” in Melbourne in January. He will be playing against some of the best basketballers his age in the state. Jack impressed the selectors at the recent Gold Nugget camp in Bendigo. We wish Jack well for the tournament.

Some of our young cricketers have also impressed the selectors for the Hamilton District Cricket Association (HDCA) Under 13 Country Week squads. The following students have made the final teams for the three day competition in Portland in January, playing against other western Victoria associations:

Tom Templeton (Year 6)

Will Bourke (Year 7)

Jude Alexander (Year 7)

Three boys who play for College Cricket Club (George Clark, Darcy Milne and Ned Hintum) will represent the association and we wish all six boys the best as they look to improve their skills and knowledge of the game at a higher level.

Finally, we must announce and congratulate one of our amazing parents, Mrs Chantal Butcher, who has been awarded a “2021 Wannon Volunteer & Sports Awards”. This is awarded by by MP Mr. Dan Tehan for people living in the Wannon electorate. Chantal was nominated by the school for her outstanding contribution to the College basketball program. This year she has coached three different teams and her efforts should not go unnoticed and are appreciated by myself, players and parents.

Netball – final game!

Thank you to all players, and our wonderful volunteers, who have helped to make this short season a success.  The teams have all been very successful and the girls are playing with great spirit and some really lovely passages going down the court.  The HNA committee are planning a Term One competition for next year, and it would be great to see even more players joining/returning next year.

Again, thank you so much to our wonderful parent volunteers, who coach, manage and umpire – it makes our participation in the competition a success.
