Celebrating our younger boarders

Congratulations to all our Year 8 boarders who have completed their Lifeskills course this week. In so many ways boarding provides the perfect environment for boarders to learn the art and craft of self-discipline, communication, collaboration, organisation, and preparation. Many of us work hard at these skills over a lifetime and for a boarder, the maturation of these skills is somewhat accelerated. In saying this, there is a place for the explicit skills that are essential for life. These are the skills our boarders may not be able to see as they are not at home as often as day-students. These are the skills of washing, ironing, baking, cleaning your room, organising yourself and others, or financial literacy skills. These have all been put into action from our House Mother, Lise Lowe this year. Lise has done a tremendous job in going above and beyond her role to not only deliver a Lifeskills program, but, to care for our younger boarders.

This week we were fortunate to have a special BBQ dinner and presentation evening celebrating the achievements of our younger boarders and to recognise the effort Lise Lowe goes to in caring, guiding and supporting our boarders.

The boarders thanked Lise, saying a few words of why they appreciate her so much. It was also a special night to have Abbie Cameron, Nick Palmer and Kristen Waldron celebrate their year with them during the evening.
