From the Acting Principal

Congratulations and well done to everyone!

We have made it through the final full week for the year.

I was contemplating over the weekend if this year has gone quickly or very slowly. I came to the conclusion it is all a bit of a blur. How do you feel? There have been so many highs and lows and twists and turns; I hope families can take time these holidays to process and fully appreciate what they have managed to accomplish under the most trying of circumstances.

We have not slowed down in our final days with many positive activities still occurring as we look ahead to 2022.

Our examination period finished on Tuesday and all students in Years 7-11 stepped up into their new subjects and with their new teachers. It felt just like the start of the year, with a buzz of energy and excitement. Year 10s and 11s completed their Level One First Aid and took part in a Fit 2 Drive session with a strong emphasis on road safety and the consequences of poor decision making. Inspector Mark James and Detective Senior Constable Rachel McMahon addressed our Year 10 students on cyber issues, consent, rights and responsibilities and careers within the Police Force. Our Senior students ran an excellent assembly on Wednesday reflecting on their year and sharing highlights from each of their subjects. Congratulations to Mrs Bec Cameron, Mr James Leversha and our very talented Junior Campus artists on their virtual art tour. Quite stunning.

Next Tuesday, 7 December will be the combined Junior and Senior Christmas Service from 2pm-3pm which will be live streamed for all College families and friends. This is always meaningful service and a chance to stop and reflect on what is truly important in our lives. To watch with us, click on this Christmas Service link.

The school year will end on Wednesday 8 December with the Old Fashioned Sports Carnival running from 9:45am-11:45am on the Myrniong Oval. We are delighted that restrictions will allow for fully vaccinated parents to attend this event and cheer on their children and Houses. It has been way too long!

The Senior School will then wrap up the day with a special assembly at 3:00pm to acknowledge our departing staff and students.

I am proud of the way our student body has responded to the challenges of 2021. We look forward to our final three days together, a chance for celebration and reflection.
