Ballarat & Inagawa Sister City Japanese Speech Contest 2021

The 5th November was an exciting day for three of us Japanese students. The Inagawa Speech Contest was held online this year, and Emily Hall, Sarah Fellows and myself thoroughly enjoyed ourselves, despite having to deliver our speech’s online.
Every year, five schools in Ballarat enter a maximum of five students each to participate in this Speech Contest to present a Japanese speech. Typically, the top two winners would receive a free trip to Japan to visit our sister school in Inagawa. Unfortunately, this year due to Covid-19 restrictions, this was not possible, and alternative prizes were in place. Every speech by every student was fantastic, but lucky for me, I was fortunate enough to receive third place in the contest. Whilst I don’t get a free trip to Japan, it was a great experience overall and has definitely refined my Japanese skills and pronunciation. Emily and Sarah also enjoyed the day, and presented excellent speeches themselves.
Many thanks to Ms Johnston for assisting us and providing us with this awesome opportunity.
