Principal's Report

Second last week of school!!

What's been happening?

Lots of Graduation practice and school transition days for our grade 6 students, swimming for grades 1-4 and Bike Ed for our Grade 5s. Our Prep students have been working on their Christmas activities and a surprise for their Grade 6 buddies.

It's been another huge week.

Each class has participated in Netball clinics conducted through Netball Victoria over the last 4 weeks, culminating in quite competitive matches for the older grades.

GRANTS:

Recently we were success in getting a $3000 Sporting School Grant for Cricket in Term 1 2022 which will be exciting - the funding assists in paying for new equipment and some coaching from Cricket Victoria.

Amanda Callaway was also successful in obtaining a grant from the Warrandyte Community Bank for some advanced Lego Spike Prime Education kits for our grade 5/6 students. Some students have been working today to put the trolley together and one of the boys opened the new box and said "Wow this is like Christmas for me! " So so exciting!

A huge thank you to Warrandyte Community Bank, Bendigo Bank for their continued support at ACPS.

GRADUATION 2021

Dear Parents and Caregivers,

Graduation 2021:  Tuesday, 14 December

We are currently rehearsing the graduation each day that we have available until the night.

Given the recent events, we have been in the situation where the plans for graduation have changed several times!

Anyway, here are the most recent plans:

6pm – students will arrive at school for their dinner. They will be required to wear a mask whenever they are indoors but they will be fine outside while they are eating.

Should this be a wet evening, we have plans to hold it inside however our preference is to be outside so we are encouraging students to have an extra layer to wear if necessary.

6.45 onwards – theatre will be open to allow time for parents to check in and show proof of vaccination (you must have proof of double vaccination to be able to attend in person) and to take their seats. Only two parents/caregivers and siblings may attend and must wear masks throughout the event. Seats will be distanced. Should your family require a particular seat let us know.

There will be a photographer during the evening to take pictures, there will be copies available at some point in the week afterwards.

At the conclusion of the event, parents will be asked to leave while our photographer takes small group photos of the students. Parents will not be allowed onto the stage to take photos. Parents wishing to take photos will have to do so when the students are outside the theatre. Again, these photos will be available for you later in the week. We acknowledge that there will be elements of our planning that will seem frustrating however, we are following the guidelines in place.

Kind regards,

Level 5/6 Team

Congratulations to Brooke Eastwood who has been appointed as our Learning Specialist for 2022!

Maja Rizzotto is taking  a year's leave to pursue opportunities at another school - she will be sadly missed, but we look forward to welcoming Maja back in 2023.
