Principal's Report

Must we always teach our children with books? Let them look at the stars and the mountains above. Let them look at the waters and the trees and flowers on Earth. Then they will begin to think, and to think is the beginning of a real education. David Polis

Over the past fortnight, I have had the pleasure of paddling with Year 7 up the Glenelg River and watching Year 8 surf, canoe, trek and cycle round Anglesea.  It has been filled with exciting opportunities and wonderful memories.  College’s Outdoor Education is a real point of difference from any school I have worked at before and I acknowledge the vision and planning of our Director of Sport and Outdoor Education, Mr Leigh Alexander and Mr John Lindros from Auscamp.

The American author, David Polis summed up the importance of our Outdoor Education programme when he described how the outdoors can stimulate children to think.   For change and growth can take place when a child dares themselves and becomes involved in experimenting with their own life.  I thank the boys and girls for having the courage to grasp the adventure and the staff for their generous time and commitment away from family.
