Best wishes to Zoe Weinberg who travels to Adelaide with her family and horses this week to compete at the Adelaide Show.

Our Equestrian Captain, Georgia Hodgetts, has continued to pursue her competitive endeavours balancing Year 12 with her co-curricular riding passion. Here is a little update from Georgia about her year so far!

Most of my weekends are very different to most Year 12s. I normally spend my Fridays travelling great lengths as far as Albury, NSW, to compete or train April and Melli. Traveling and riding them is a great stress relief away from Year 12.

Sometimes these weekends away are not successful at all, but then sometimes they are. Luckily at Albury (Border Districts Showjumping Championships), Melli came home with a win in the 90cm in competition with 70 others. We also traveled to Werribee for a Nationals training day on a Saturday with Melli and then traveled down to Geelong to compete on April. In the metre class April came home with a 2nd and then went on to win the ‘Off the Track Award’. The ‘Off the Track Award’ is presented to the best performing Ex Racehorse and April was able to gain this award even with a one day start compared to others who had two days.

During the winter, we also had Squad trainings every few weekends. This consisted of Mum traveling with my horses, April and Melli, down to Werribee during the day and then I would drive myself after school. Luckily enough there are breaks in between some of the sessions with Squad which is my study time.

We have the ‘Victorian State Titles’, ‘Interschool Nationals’ and ‘Australian Showjumping Championships’ just around the corner and I am very excited to be able to compete in all of them.
