Brunswick English Language Centre is a campus of Brunswick Secondary College and is located on the second floor of A-block.  It has a target enrolment of 65 students.

The Centre caters for students who have recently arrived in Australia and need to develop their English Language skills before entering their local secondary college to commence their mainstream schooling.  All students are either permanent residents or international fee payers.  Apart from the Language Centre’s English program, students also participate in maths, sport and Art programs. These programs all designed to enhance students’ English skills.

In term 1, Centre’s sport program introduced students to soccer skills.  Soccer coaches from Melbourne City football team taught soccer skills to students over 3 weekly sessions during designated sports period.  Additional focus of the lessons were: team work; collaboration; English language and soccer skills.  And of course fun!

I really love being at BELC because I not only study there, but also have fun with my friends. I found out that I’m good at sport and can play sports which I haven't played before. It makes me feel healthier and happier.

I was really excited about this activity. It was really fun and enjoyable. Through this activity, I have learnt how to play soccer and collaborate with friends. Hopefully, this activity will continue.

It was my first time playing soccer in my life. We competed against others as a team. It felt good to be in a team. Even though I didn’t score a goal, I had an amazing experience. Why didn’t I play soccer before?
