The Peppercorns - 10s & 11s

Human Rights

The Peppercorns have been exploring the Universal Declaration of Human Rights through our lines of inquiry, central idea and concepts.  Our main focus has been on the following: human rights and what they are; whether human rights are applicable to everyone; and, the various factors that impact human rights.  Students have been very engaged in unpacking the complexities that are associated with the Universal Declaration of Human Rights.  They are also finishing off their persuasive texts and tangible pieces for their projects relating to this unit.  Look out for their final products on Seesaw.

At the same time, the Peppercorns have been organising a St Vinnies Sleepout event to raise awareness around homelessness.  We formed various committee groups, each with different responsibilities, so that we can achieve our goal of raising $850.  The committees meet weekly to discuss, minute and action agenda items.

Some of their responsibilities so far have included:

  • facilitating whole school meetings
  • organising different fundraising events like the Pyjama Day on 21 July 2019
  • distributing advertisements and sending emails to the school and community
  • completing safety checks and a risk assessment
  • monitoring the weather.

We are so looking forward to the Sleepout and we are really hoping to achieve our goal of raising $850.
