Christmas Cakes
Monday 22 August for weighing and measuring
Hello Everyone. The Bananas have decided not to participate in Christmas cake making this year, so the pressure is now seriously on us, every one of us, to all get involved and get it done without their help... we’ll show ‘em!! Sorry to newcomers... this is last year’s context... Bananas are out; good attitude is in!! We can do this!! Yes we can!!
So, Christmas Cakes in a nut shell...
Every year, we make hundreds of beautiful Christmas cakes as a significant Parents and Friends Association fundraiser – this year to fund the Myrniong undercover play area. It’s a great exercise of logistics, fun, chatting, weighing, measuring, waiting, mixing, baking, de-tinning, sherry-ing (hic), wrapping and finally... selling. Last year we made over 500, and due to increased demand, this year we have a target of around 600, (this-is-a-good-thing-and-I am-not-frightened... (breathes deeply)).
It might sound like a bit of a task and, yes, if only five people decided to get involved, it would be huge. But we are fortunate that last year we had over 40 committed, dedicated, fantastic parents, friends, teachers and old collegians involved (you know who you are, and I know who you are) – it was a cinch!!
So, heads up everyone, the first date you should save in your diaries is Monday 22 August. Put a line through the morning starting at 9:00, as it will take us maybe three to four hours to weigh and measure, sort and batch around 700 kg of ingredients. We’ll have a coffee/ hot chocolate break in there somewhere. We’ll need a minimum of 20 people. If we get 40 then we do it in nearly half the time.
Easy! Please don’t be shy. No prior experience is necessary, and could we please get a good number of blokes – there is a little bit of heavy lifting once the batches are sorted.
Please put your name and number on the sheet at either Nat’s desk at Myrniong, or with Fi at Senior Campus, or give me a call – 0458 201 211. If you remember how much fun it was last year, then please encourage someone who hasn’t had a go to get involved as well.
Thanks... looking forward to seeing you there.
