Acting Principal's News
Dear Parents and Carers,
The past 11 weeks have been filled with many learning opportunities, time to reflect and renew and opportunities to celebrate the wonderful school and community that we are. I have thoroughly enjoyed my first full term as Acting Principal. I thank you all for the support and encouragement which you have demonstrated in my regard. I look forward to continuing to lead St James into Term 2 as Acting Principal.
Easter at St James
This week all students participated in Holy week liturgies. It was so nice to see the community gather and join us in prayer.
This morning the classes in the junior school discovered that overnight a special guest had come into their classrooms and left behind footprints, fur and chocolate easter eggs. I informed the students that I had received a call from the security in the early hours regarding the school alarm. I told them that I checked our special security footage and to my surprise, look what I found! You will need to take a very close look!
Today we had our inaugural Easter Bonnet Parade. It was wonderful to see so many creative designs. Thank you to the students with support from their parents in designing so many lovely bonnets.
The Annual Easter Raffle was held today at school. There were lots of smiles, cheering and such a positive vibe in the yard. Thank you to all families who donated prizes and purchased tickets. Thanks also to the PA and their team of helpers for wrapping all of the raffle prizes.
ANZAC Day
A reminder that Term 2 commences on Monday 24th April, the day before the ANZAC Day Public Holiday. The school will be open and running lessons for students on Monday 24th April.
Yesterday the students in Year 6 attended Melbourne Leagacy’s 91st ANZAC Commemoration Ceremony for Students. Two of our students laid a wreath at the eternal flame on behalf of the entire school community.
School Uniform
As we commence next term it will be time to transition in Winter Uniforms. It is optional for the students to begin wearing their winter uniform from the beginning of term 2. All students will need to be wearing their full School Winter Uniform by Week 3 - Monday 8th May. As we are a sunsmart school, students will need to wear their hats depending on the UV rating. Sunsmart Australia suggests wearing a hat when the UV rating is 3 and above.
There will also be a second hand uniform sale in the first week back at school.
Friday 28th April, before and after school
8:45am - 9:00am
and
3:15pm - 3:45pm
I would like to take this opportunity to wish all families a safe and Happy Easter.
Please stay safe and healthy during the School Holidays. We look forward to welcoming all students and families back next term.
