We acknowledge the Traditional Owners of the land on which our school stands,

the Wurundjeri people of the Kulin Nation.

Dear Families and Friends,

As we continue on our Lenten Journey. . .

Life can be a difficult ride, and each of us at times will know the pain, trouble, loneliness and struggle. That’s why it is important for us to practice love and kindness. But when we are going through our own difficulties, when we are tired or feeling taken for granted, we might wonder what’s the point?

What’s the point of being kind? What’s the point of continuing to be caring, helpful and polite? Have you noticed that emotional states are contagious? Hang around an angry person long enough and some of that will rub off on you. The same goes for depression. Uncaring acts beget more. Selfishness breeds isolation, disrespect, contempt and ugliness. Just as negative emotions have a negative impact in our lives, our emotional state and our thoughts travel from us like ripples on a pond. They radiate energy that affects everything and everyone around us. Eventually some of that energy will be reflected back to us, perhaps weaker, perhaps greatly magnified…

Therefore . . .
Be kind to one another, tender-hearted, forgiving one another, as God in Christ forgave you. (Ephesians 4:32)
Open your mouth with wisdom, and the teaching of kindness is on your tongue. (Adapted from Proverbs 31:26)
Let us do good to everyone. (Galatians 6:10)
Put on love, which binds everything together in perfect harmony. (Colossians 3:14)
Let us not love in word or talk but in deed and in truth. (1 John 3:18)
Do not grow weary in good. (2 Thessalonians 3:13)
Rejoice with those who rejoice, weep with those who weep. (Romans 12:15)
Bear one another’s burdens, and so fulfil the law of Christ. (Galatians 6:2)

Staff Carpark

Please ensure that the staff carpark is not used for parking or as a drop off / pick up zone. On Wednesday we had a number of drivers using the car park to drop off - this can create a very unsafe environment, especially when staff are also entering their work place to park their car. Sometimes people think that certain rules don't apply to them - not only is this unfair on others but it creates an unsafe environment. It is important that we model to our children that rules and expectations are there for everyone, not just a few. It transfers to other situations that they may experience in life, including the classroom and playground.

Energy Drinks

There has been a growing trend in schools in relation to a drink called Prime.  It is becoming a popular trend among school children.

Prime Energy is not suitable for people under 18 years of age to consume, as it contains double the legal limit of caffeine as per Australian Government Regulations and SIX times the amount included in a regular caffeinated soft drink.

A reminder that "fizzy drinks" or "health drinks" can not be brought to school. Students should only bring water in a clearly labelled drink bottle. Drinks, like food, should not be shared with others. Students are also reminded that we have a number of drinking taps around the school which they are more than welcome to use.

Ride2School 2023

Last Friday we participated in the national initiative "Ride2School Day," which encourages kids to use a more sustainable and active way to get to school. We had many kids ride their push bikes, scoot their scooters or even travelled by foot to school which helped us create our very own Bike and Scooter City.

We were joined in the morning by the 'Flying Bike', a local company that specialises in bike servicing and safety. Two of their staff guided our Year -6 students who rode to school through a workshop where students learned ways that they can keep their bikes in a safe working order.

It was great to see so many families jump on board with the initiative, it was a great success and one we look forward to being involved in again next year.
