i Sea, i Care: Victorian Marine Ambassadors Program at St Simon’s

The Dolphin Research Institute

We are excited to announce that this year St Simon’s is part of the “i Sea, i Care” Victorian Marine Ambassadors Program.

The “i Sea, i Care” School Ambassadors Program provides leadership opportunities for six of our students in Grade 5 and Grade 6. The students selected this year are our four Environmental Leaders which are Annabelle Eimermacher, Rohit Khanna, Neisha Beatty and Elijah Roughan, as well as two Grade 5 students Conor Nyholm and Shanisse Mathes.

The School Ambassadors Program is provided by the Dolphin Research Institute based on the shore of Western Port Bay at Hastings. The staff involved in this wonderful initiative are Miss Do, Miss Felsinger and Mrs Solari.

The School Ambassadors learn about the rich marine environment. They also learn about what lives in our bays and waterways, and the many issues facing them.Through peer-teaching workshops held at different primary schools, the Ambassadors develop the skills and self-confidence to pass their knowledge on. They will have opportunities to share with their peers, younger students, school assemblies and other groups about Victoria’s living marine treasures, and that they’re too precious to lose!

At the moment our six Ambassadors are discussing and exploring our school projects for the year. We are looking forward to sharing these projects with the school community throughout the year.
