Our first Term as Mambourin

Ms Lara Ronald

The Mambourin Campus has good reason to feel proud as we end our first term! It has been a full term of building relationships, a sense of belonging, and community for students, families, and staff.  Our children are settled, and we are excited by the attitude and joy they bring to learning. They are more creative and expressive in every way.

Our campus is physically improving with the addition of a fence and planter boxes. The children are a part of these improvements as they collect plants from around the school under the guidance of Mr. McNaughton the school Horticulturalist. This is building their awareness of the environment and caring for nature. The children are beginning to recognise when the plants need watering and manage this themselves. We are excited to invite families to be a part of our veggie planter boxes by bringing seedlings that are important to their families and planting them with their children. This is our community in action!

Our children have also been developing their own shared model of our campus. They applied creativity, and problem-solving skills, and considered the different perspectives of our campus to make a box model. They worked together as a Prep and Yr. 1 cohort over a few weeks practicing and applying self-management skills and core communication skills. Not only were they creating and solving problems about how to connect and join materials, but they had to consider how their creation connects to the larger-scale shared structure. They estimated, measured, and labelled their plan to build vocabulary by applying core numeracy and literacy skills they have been developing.

The Mambourin cohort has a keen sense of identity and connection to their campus. We celebrate this as our current cohort of children and adults has marked history as we complete our first term! We thank the children, the teachers, and their families for their support and contributions this term.

Have a wonderful holiday and thank you to the larger community of Good News Lutheran College for their support in establishing the Mambourin Campus.
